David Stephens was on a mission this past Friday Night, as he led the Lincoln County Panthers past Saint Albans by a score of 44-21. The Panthers were riding a six-game losing streak, but apparently Stephens had enough and decided to put on a show. By the end, Stephens would have 4 Touchdowns, including an impressive 30 yd run where he hurdled the defensive line. He displayed power at the line of scrimmage, but also speed in the open field.
The Panthers started the season with a tough slate of games, which included teams like Winfield, Herbert Hoover, & Nitro. In fact, Saint Albans was the first team ranked below Lincoln County since the season started. In the final three weeks of the season, the Panthers will travel to Mingo Central, Sissonville, & Midland Trail. Currently, Mingo Central is 7-0 and ranked 36th in the State. Also, Midland Trail looks like a different team this season, as they are 6-1 and ranked one spot below Mingo Central at 37th. Finally, Sissonville ended their nearly two year losing streak early in the season and are currently 3-4. Sissonville also is ranked one spot below Lincoln County at 88th in the State, which means they've played an easier schedule than the Panthers. Lincoln County vs. Sissonville could very well be one of the most interesting games of the season.
