Fall Sports Season is underway, and The Lincoln County Panthers have seen a surge in athletic participation. Currently, over 150 athletes are competing in sports like volleyball, football, soccer, cheerleading, cross country and golf. The reason for the growing rosters is twofold. First, winter and springs sports are pushing their returning athletes to compete in fall sports. Also, the freshman class is loaded with talent, which includes over 45 athletes and makes up the largest class for several sports. For example, football (48) and volleyball (24) have a large freshman classes. In football, there are roughly 18 freshmen, and in volleyball there are 9 freshmen. The additional athletic talent, and incoming freshman class, will also create depth for each sport and they will challenge returning players for starting time. The depth will also lead to more JV games, as coaches will have enough athletes to field those teams. Consequently, the surge in athletes will only help to upgrade our athletic programs this fall. More to come!! Stay tuned!!
