The Lincoln County Boys & Girls Soccer Teams will play at home tonight for the first time this season. At this point, both programs have been practicing for several weeks, and they are ready to showcase their skills in front a home crowd. Although each team had a breakthrough season in 2024, this year will be yet another big test as the school has been fully integrated into the Cardinal Conference. Last night, the Lady Panthers got their first taste, as they suffered an 8-0 loss to the Sissonville Indians. The landscape doesn't get any easier, as the programs will face stiff competition when they face Nitro, Herbert Hoover, Winfield, and Ripley. Each of those programs had winning seasons last year, and they finished between 13th and 28th in the State (except Nitro Boys Team). This is largely due to dominate distance programs in track & field, which certainly tends to spill over into soccer season.
On the other hand, tonight the Panthers face Logan (Boys) and Scott (Girls), which are teams that haven't produced the same results as teams in the Cardinal Conference. Logan finished 6-11 last season and 78th in the State, while Scott is looking to re-establish its girls program. Therefore, both programs have an opportunity to showcase there skills, and hopefully end up in the win column. Come out and support your Panthers tonight. See you there...
