The Lincoln County Girls Basketball Program will have its fourth Head Coach in as many years, as Wendy Mosteller prepares for her first season under the helm. Fortunately, Coach Mosteller was the assistant coach last season, so that should provide both familiarity and stability for the girls program. In fact, stability is just what the team needs, as it's fallen on hard times since being ranked 39th in the State in both 2020 and 2021. During that stretch, the team finished with a combined record of 31-15, but over the last four seasons the team had an overall record of 19-68. As a result, the team has dropped to a low of 97th in the State over the last two seasons. However, that was largely due to instability and a constant change in leadership.
Consequently, the Lady Panthers should be excited as they prepare for the upcoming season. The program weathered the storm, and is now prepared to return to prominence once again. Coach Mosteller has the work-ethic, experience, and a solid group of incoming freshmen from which to build. In addition, the program returns Junior Arien Cooper, who led the team last season in points per game (9.3) and rebounds per game (10.3). The season begins on Nov. 10th, so stay tuned as we continue to follow the team throughout the season..
